Q: What can I rearrange in Syno Manager?

Four things: which dashboard cards appear and in what order, which tabs are in the bottom bar and in what order, which sub-views appear inside each tab and in what order, and whether each card is expanded or collapsed. All four are remembered.

Q: I hid something and now a card does nothing.

It does something - it tells you the view is hidden and offers a Customize button that takes you straight to the setting. It will not silently open a different screen, which is what it used to do and what reads as a broken link.

Q: Is my layout stored on the NAS or on the phone?

On the phone. Dashboard layout, card order and collapse state are kept per NAS on that device. To move them to a new phone, use Backup and Restore.

Customize views

Every tab with more than one section has a ⋮ menu at the top right, and Customize views in it.

A live preview of the sub-view row sits at the top, so you can see the result before saving.
A checkbox per view to show or hide it.
A drag handle to reorder - the first one in the list is the one the tab opens on.
At least one view must stay visible, so a tab cannot be made empty.
Reset restores the defaults; Save applies.

This is how you make a tab open where you want. If you always want the System tab to land on Logs, drag Logs to the top. The tab now opens there.

A design rule

Nothing you hide becomes a dead end

Hiding things creates a trap: a dashboard card whose screen you have hidden. Tap it, and where does it go?

It used to go to whatever that tab's first section happened to be - so hiding Disk Health and then tapping the Disk Health card landed you on Volumes & Pools, with no explanation. That reads as a broken app.

Now the card tells you. If the view is hidden it says so and offers a Customize button that takes you straight to the setting that would bring it back. If your NAS does not run the service at all, it says that instead - a different problem with a different answer, and the app does not confuse the two.

Dashboard: Reset in the edit toolbar restores the default cards and order.
Bottom bar: Reset in Customize Navigation.
Sub-views: Reset in each tab's Customize views.
Help cards: Restore all in Settings › Help, or restore them one at a time.
Everything, on a new phone: export and restore the app's settings.

New cards arrive switched on. When a version adds a card your NAS supports, it appears rather than waiting to be discovered in a settings screen. Customize is where you turn things off - not where you go to find out what exists.
